6-8 September 2001: I've Been Workin' On the Railroad...

With Sean's brother, Scott, in town, we hopped on the bikes and rode up to Chama, NM to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.  On our way up a cold front moved in, but we made it  and set up camp.  On Friday we rode the train from Chama to Antonito, CO, and rode the bus back to Chama.  It was a little chilly, but it was a gorgeous day and the train ride was great.  What beautiful country!  The next day we woke up early and got ready to chase the train as far as we could.  This was a special occasion, since the train had three engines pulling freight cars and passenger cars.  This only happens once a year, so we came at the right time.  The road follows the train track for about 15 miles, and we got a lot of great pictures.  Actually, we got HUNDREDS of great pictures, so we'll only post a few here.  Otherwise we'd use up the entire internet!
